Alchemical Press is a small publishing company based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. It was created in 2007 and is run by GMB Chomichuk. Alchemical Press has published six graphic novels, two of those being children’s graphic novels. The majority of these novels are illustrated by Chomichuk himself. The novels are described as “speculative fiction for heady what-ifs, horror for things-that-go-bump and conventional fiction for emotional range.”^[1] Many of the stories involve aspects of horror, the supernatural, and/or alternate universes.

The published graphic novels are: Endswell, Myriad Tales, Maestro Ars Robotica in Artificial Kung Fu, Hope and the Walleye, Catch That Catfish! and The Imagination Manifesto. These are all available online at The Strange Market or at McNally Robinson in Winnipeg. The Strange Market also sells limited edition prints based on the graphic novels.

Alchemical Press also published the book Call*Response: Present, Past, and Beyond ~ Volume 1 in 2011. It is a hard cover book that talks about the live music scene in Winnipeg. At least ten dollars from each book sold was donated to the Kids Help Phone. ^[2]

G (Greg) MB Chomichuk is a Canadian graphic novelist, mixed-media artist, writer, and art teacher whose work is published primarily through BlueWater Comics and his own comapny, Alchemical Press.

In the past, he has worked for and collaborated with a number of other artists. As a staff illustrator for Patsy Moore's Bohemian Aesthetic, Chomichuk illustrated a number of works of poetry. He has also done illustrations for Catch that Catfish! (nominated for the 2010 Manitoba Book Awards for the McNally Robinson Book of the Year for Young People Award^[3]) and Hope and the Walleye, two childrens' books written by John Toone. Additionally, Chomichuk has also done the illustrations for the four issue mini-series Jane: The Avenging Star for Bluewater Comics, as well as cover art for the new collected edition of the preceeding mini-series.

Chomichuk's story Doll House has been adapted and illustrated by Aaron Rintoul for Asylum Press's Asylum of Horrors. His illustrated short story Hyphen is available in dANDelion, a Calgary-based literary journal.

He has also worked on pilot episodes of the web serial The Dark (written by Steven Erikson and David Keck), published by Irregular Productions, and has worked as an art director on a variety of music videos, as well as the feature length horror film Aegri Somnia: A Sick Man's Dreams with Absurd Machine Studios.

The Imagination Manifesto Book One (2009) is a collection of four serialized graphic novels written by GMB Chomichuk, James Rewucki and John Toone. It was co-published by BlueWater Comics^[4]. All of these novels are illustrated by GMB Chomichuk. The four serialized novels are The Imagination Manifesto, Aegri Somnia: A Sick Man's Dreams, Tomorrow Society, and Sixgun Quixote.

The Imagination Manifesto is a story based in an alternate world. The main character is a woman named Endswell who has set out to avenge her dead Queen. It is a murder mystery dealing with elements of the supernatural.

Aegri Somnia: A Sick Man’s Dreams is the second story in the volume. It tells of the hallucinations of a recently widowed man and his haunting by his deceased wife.

Tomorrow Society is a story about superheroes, time travel and a battle to the ends of the world.

Sixgun Quixote is the final story in the volume. It is about a man who is searching for his home in a barren landscape.

Absurd Machine Studios is a audio and video production company. The studio has the capability to handle many types of production. They can film documentaries, record music videos, capture special moments by means of photography and design a studio front.

Bluewater Productions: A publishing and production company that specializes in comic books, graphic novels and multimedia. The company’s main goal is to build the relationship between top of the line artwork and contemporary story telling. Bluewater is dedicated to bridging “the gap between comic books and the diverse multimedia marketplace.”^[6] Bluewater Productions has teamed up with Alchemical Press in the creation of Insane Jane: The Avenging Star as well as The Imagination Manifesto.

Vagabond Brigade: A web design company. Vagabond specializes in websites that are innovative yet still simple and user-friendly. Vagabond worked together with Alchemical Press to create their home website.

John Toone: A writer known especially for his poetry. He lives in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada where he had the opportunity to cross paths with GMB Chomichuk of Alchemical Press. The two worked together to publish a variety of comics for readers of all ages, including Hope and the Walleye and Catch That Catfish!. They also worked side by side with James Rewucki to create the series of novels in The Imagination Manifesto. ^[7]
