Senior Pastor
Herbert Cooper grew up in Wewoka, Oklahoma, sixty miles east of Oklahoma City off I-40. He graduated from Evangel University in Springfield, MO in 1997, with a Biblical Studies major and a Psychology minor. As a scholarship athlete (football) and full-time student, Herbert still found time to preach revivals and youth camps across America throughout his collegiate career. By the time he graduated, he had five years of preaching and ministry experience. Immediately following graduation, he launched a full-time evangelistic ministry and months later married his college sweetheart, Tiffany. He quickly became one of the most highly sought after speakers, conducting revivals and crusades and speaking at conferences, youth camps and youth conventions across America.
In addition, he is a worldwide speaker, preaching in the Ukraine, Malawi Africa and in Uganda Africa in front of crowds numbering in excess of 15,000. In Herbert's last year in full-time evangelistic ministry, he spoke to approximately 30,000 teenagers and thousands of adults in over twenty different states around America. In April 2001, God spoke to Herbert and Tiffany to plant a multi-cultural church in a major city in America. In May 2001, the Lord directed them to the north side of Oklahoma City. In January 2002, the Coopers sold their home in Springfield and moved to Oklahoma City to begin People's Church. People's Church began on May 12, 2002, with 65 people in attendance and is now ministering to over 5000 people every week.
History
Peopleschurch.tv was founded in 2002, by Herbert Cooper and his wife Tiffany Cooper, with services originally being held in the AMC Theatre at Quail Springs Mall in Oklahoma City, OK. The grand opening of People's Church was May 12, 2002, with 65 people in attendance.
2004
Peoples Church purchased 50 acres to build a 17,500 sq. ft. facility.
2006
Peoples Church completed construction on their new facility and began worshipping at what is now the main campus located at 800 E. Britton Rd. in Oklahoma City, OK 73114.
2009
Due to the increase in attendance, Peoples Church added an additional 44,000 square foot facility that includes an 1800 seat auditorium. The previous auditorium was then remodeled into a kids and youth space.
2011
In August 2011, the church launched a second campus located at 351 N. Air Depot Blvd. Midwest City, OK 73110. This second campus is ministering to approximately 1,400 people a week with many accepting Christ each week.
2012
Today, People's Church is ministering to over 5,000 people in four identical Sunday experiences at both campuses.
Values
1.Win the Lost at Any Cost
2.Diversity
3.Excellence
4.Growth
People’s church uses the following system to encourage their members to grow spiritually:
Church Attendance: Hearing God's Word each week, spending time in corporate worship, hanging out and building friendships with other believers. We all need this, AND it's biblical. See you at church Sunday!
Daily prayer and Bible reading: Just like it sounds, one of the most important steps you can take to grow spiritually is to spend time each day praying and reading your Bible. Set aside a specific time each day and do your best to stick to it.
Serving in Ministry: Part of growing as a follower of Christ is sharing with others what God has done in your own life. There is no better way to do that than to volunteer in ministry. Just as there was someone ministering to you when you came to know God, someone out there needs you to show them Jesus. It may be greeting someone at the door, volunteering in the kids ministry or operating a camera in the auditorium...God can use all to advance His Kingdom.
Community Groups: Groups are the final piece of the puzzle that brings everything together and are places where you can find friends, accountability, care & prayer. Life, and especially our walk with God, shouldn't be done alone. We need each other.[4]
