Jim serves as a freelance community and sports correspondent for the Daily Press, a Tribune newspaper, which is published in Newport News, VA. He is also the senior writer for Trackside magazine, which can be found at www.tracknation.com. His interview subjects have included Olympic track medalists such as Billy Mills, Greg Foster, Kellie Wells, Justin Gatlin and Dee Dee Trotter.

McGrath Educational Services highlights Jim's writing projects, as well as education work, such as tutoring, research and consulting.

In his spare time, Jim is publisher of a "Writing on the Wall" blog, located at jfmcgrath.blogspot.com.

Jim has earned a B.A. degree in English from Wagner College and an M.Ed. in Administration and Supervision from the University of Virginia. His teaching endorsements in the state of Virginia are for English and Administration and Supervision K-12.

Jim and his wife Elizabeth, also a correctional education teacher, reside in Newport News, VA.
