Jonathan Tyrone Woodside better know as Jonnie B was born (July 5, 1989) in Long Island, NY and lived there with his parents and siblings until moving to Florida during his teenage years. In his early childhood, Jonnie B participated in the gospel choir with his twin brother at their New York church. His parent’s avid music lovers themselves began taking notice to Jonnie B’s musical interest and placed him along with his twin brother in piano lessons. At the age of eight Jonnie B had mastered the skill of composing, where he would play the songs of his favorite artist like Barber Streisand and Lauren Hill on his Casio piano. By the time he moved to Florida, he was already writing songs and raps for his favorite artist like Jay-z with hopes of hearing his lyrics used by one of the artist. His old school spirit and love for soul music were professed in his songs.

Once in Florida, he began meeting other artist and started performing at talent shows under the name “ J-Writer,” the name was a combination of the first initial of his name (Jonathan) while the “writer,” was added to indicate him being a songwriter. At the same time, his interests in sports were growing and he began playing basketball. He was offered a scholarship to play basketball at Warner University a Christian college in Lake Wales, Fl. While at Warner University, he continued writing and singing, and eventually took a break from college to focus on his music career. In 2010, Jonnie B teamed up with F.I.R.S.T School director/producer to produce his first professional mix tape entitled “The First Semester,” which received thousands of downloads and great reviews.A few months later Jonnie B linked up with Brittney Trackstarr a.k.a Brittney Boston, since than Jonnie B has found placement on various artist albums such as Trey Songz.

Thanks to the success of his first mix tape, Jonnie B has received interest from record labels and started work on his debut album. Inspired by others life experiences, Jonnie B plans to inspire others through his voice and words. Many have said his diverse song writing and singing style in Pop, R&B and Rap will give him longevity in the music industry.
