Hi Newbie! FYI, when importing large amounts of text, we usually leave the "from a 1911 encyclopedia" at the bottom. Since you're a newbie, try looking at the links on the main page and do searches on nomenclature discussions. For example, Basil II should be Basil II of the Byzantine Empire...welcome and have fun -- also, tell us something about yourself!! JHK

Sure. I'm 29 years old (as you might have guessed by the username) and a newspaper editor in Garner, North Carolina, near Raleigh. I found this site when I was doing a search for the Vandal King Gaiseric (or Geiseric, as this site prefers) on Google and got a blank page on him. So I wrote an article, the first of several I've done since.

You can pretty much see where my interests lie from what I've contributed, all historical articles and most of them military history. I'll probably try my hand at some other topics on down the line, but right now I'm sticking with what I'm most comfortable with. If anyone wants to know more, ask away. John

Just curious if you speak German. It seems to be a bold statement criticizing the quality of writing of Mein Kampf if you have only read an English translation.

To some extent, I do. I'm not fluent in it. But when I said Mein Kampf was a badly written book, I didn't mean it in a grammatical sense. It reads like the semi-coherent, rambling musings of a brilliant, but mentally disturbed individual. Which, in fact, is what it is. If I had read it without knowing Adolf Hitler wrote it, I would not have been shocked in the least to learn he was the author. Jsc1973 (talk) 06:30, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
