CFM Jet is the aircraft sales division of Corporate Flight Management. Corporate Flight Management, Inc. was founded in 1982 and has grown from 1 airplane, 1 employee and 1 rented office to 20 airplanes, over 200 employees and 2 FBOs. CFM provides on demand charter, maintenance, pilot training and aircraft sales for customers across the nation and worldwide.

History

July 1982 Corporate Flight Management, Inc. (CFM) was founded. Reece Howell, after a twenty-five year career as a corporate pilot, joined forces with his son Allen Howell and began this aircraft Charter and Management Services firm at the Murfreesboro, Tennessee Airport. The initial business plan was to provide on-demand air charter for passengers and freight to the growing Middle Tennessee community.

February 1984 The company moved into its current headquarters at the Smyrna, Tennessee Airport. This airport met the increasing needs of CFM, both in size and services with its two runways (8,500 ft. and 5,500 ft.), a control tower, large hangars, and three different instrument approaches.

September 1988 CFM became a full service fixed base operator (FBO) at the Smyrna airport. This provided the capability to offer additional maintenance, fuel and aircraft storage services necessary to complement the aircraft charter and management business.

July 1991 CFM acquired the FBO at Nashville's John C. Tune Airport. The John C. Tune airport, with its 5,500 foot runway, was designated as a reliever airport by the FAA, and has recently been outfitted with an Instrument Landing System. Besides offering the standard FBO services at this airport, it is also the home base for several of CFM's charter aircraft.

December 1996 CFM initiated scheduled airline service under the name Corporate Airlines. The airline was structured as a subsidiary, with its own key management and personnel. As planned, Corporate Airlines was separated from CFM to allow both companies the growth opportunities needed.

July 1997 CFM expanded its limited repair station. In addition to maintaining a variety of jet and turboprop aircraft, the FAA-certified repair station allows CFM to maintain Twin Commanders, and BAe Jetstream aircraft, as well as aircraft accessories and components for a multitude of other aircraft.

September 1998 CFM launched Courier Logistics. As a subsidiary of CFM, Courier Logistics currently operates a fleet of small & medium sized trucks for scheduled and on-demand package and freight deliveries. Courier Logistics also handles the majority of air freight at the Smyrna airport.

December 1998 CFM enters into a long term land lease with the Smyrna/Rutherford County Airport Authority for 11 acres of land at the Smyrna Airport in order to accommodate future growth.

August 1999 CFM acquired an additional maintenance shop. Due to the growth of the maintenance business, additional shop space was required. More space allowed the company to expand its services and decrease outside vendor usage.

January 2000 CFM completes a 20-hangar expansion of the west side of Smyrna Airport. This expansion on the land leased from Smyrna in 1998 accommodates the demand for additional small aircraft storage at the Smyrna Airport.

March 2000 CFM charter moved its offices and aircraft storage into a larger facility at the Smyrna Airport. This allowed the charter department the extra space necessary to handle the growth that it continues to experience. CFM charter currently operates and manages fourteen aircraft including: 1 Learjet 45, 1 Learjet 31A, 2 Learjet 35A, 1 MU-300 Diamond, 3 BAe Jetstream 32, 4 BAe Jetstream 31, 1 King Air 200, and 1 Piper PA-23.

December 2001 CFM receives it's ICAO call-sign: 'Volunteer'.

June 2002 CFM is designated a factory authorized service center for the Cirrus Design Aircraft SR20 / SR22.

October 2003 CFM gets upgraded from Gold standing to Platinum by the Aviation Research Group / US (ARG/US). This is the highest rating possible and sets us apart as one of the elite charter companies in the US.

January 2005 Allen Howell strikes a deal with Blake Tumbleson to open CFM's first ever aircraft sales division, CFM Jet.

October 2006 CFM Jet establishes our own “branding” and leads off with the launch of one of the industries most useful and interesting web sites.

November 2006 Bill Tumbleson is hired as Senior Aviation Consultant

December 2006 CFM Jet employs the skills of PR specialists Ken Davidson, and becomes the first in the industry to use professionally produced videos to market aircraft.

March 2007 CFM Jet hires full time Sales Assistant and Researcher Ryan Switalski

May 2007 Larry Payne is hired as Senior Aviation Consultant

February 2008 CFM Jet hires full time Sales Assistant Jeremy Gillard
