Lawrence (Larry) Pixa is a Senior Program Manager at Microsoft Corporation responsible for the design and implementation of programs that support cooperation and knowledge sharing with governments & international organizations worldwide. These programs are part of Microsoft’s broader corporate social responsibility efforts to extend capabilities and enable technology adoption in the public sector and non-governmental organization communities. Larry has worked for Microsoft since 2000 and has held a series of senior technology strategist roles, the latest of which entailed working directly with government agencies in Europe on critical information infrastructure protection partnerships.

In addition to his Microsoft experience, Larry has 15 years of experience in science and technology policy and managing multi-year technology programs. Larry’s experience includes increasingly responsible roles in the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the California Institute of Technology/NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Notably, Larry was Sr. Program Manager for the NASA High Performance Computing and Communications (HPCC) Program based in Washington, DC. Larry also served with the Commission on Physical Sciences, Mathematics & Applications of the National Academy of Sciences. Just prior to coming to Microsoft Larry managed a Non-government Organization from 1997 to 1999 in the former Soviet Union as Director (Chief of Party), IRIS Center Ukraine (funded by the US Agency for International Development). During this period Larry designed & managed a sustainable, national multi-year information infrastructure deployment across Ukraine and consulted on related work in the Republics of Kyrgyzstan, Moldova and Poland.

Larry holds a Master of Arts degree in International Transactions with concentration in Science and Technology Policy from George Mason University's Institute of Public Policy and a Bachelor of Science degree in Language from Georgetown University's Faculty of Languages and Linguistics. Larry is also is a certified privacy professional (CIPP/G).
