Classical Theory of Lift
This is a sandbox article, whose genesis goes back some 14 months, before it was overtaken by events - restarted in memoriam. 'For C'
Objective
To show how the lift force on a body can be calculated once the flow and pressure field is given, 'almost everywhere', where Euler's equation is valid. It closely follows the classical derivation given in G. K. Batchelor's Fluid Dynamics.
Key Steps.
Turn Euler's Equation into a momentum flux equation
Hence force on a submerged object. Take control volume as coinciding with wing to get pressure terms only. Evaluate integral at large distances - note how pressure on momentum integrals stay finite and equal in 2D.
