Emily Cahill-Camden was born on July 6th, 1993 in Rainbow Babies and Children's hospital in Cleveland, Ohio.

FAMILY: Emily currently resides in Cleveland Heights, Ohio with her mother, Vera Camden, her father, Kevin Cahill, and her younger sister, Beatrice Cahill-Camden. Dr. Vera Camden is a successful publicist, a full professor of English at Kent State University, and a private psychoanalyst in Cleveland. Her master's degree is from the University of Chicago and her bachelor's is from University of Arizona. Beatrice Cahill-Camden, age 13, attends the Ruffing Montessori School in Cleveland Heights, Ohio and excels in the Cleveland Heights' lacrosse program, which is the best lacrosse program is the state of Ohio, and squash at the Cleveland Racquet Club.

ACADEMICS: Emily's early educational years were spent in Carol Nursery School in Shaker Heights, Ohio for preschool. For kindergarten up to 2nd grade she attended Boulevard Elementary School, a branch off of the Shaker Heights public school district. After her family moved from Shaker Heights to Cleveland Heights in 2000, Emily's parents decided to put her into an all girl's school, Laurel. Emily spent 5 years at Laurel, starting at 3rd grade and ending at 7th. Feeling that she had worn out her time out at Laurel, she decided to broaden her horizon and try out public school again. She took 8th grade at Roxboro Middle School, in Cleveland Heights. After a successful year at Roxboro, Emily had the option of staying with the Cleveland Heights district or going back to private school. She chose to stay with her friends and in Cleveland Heights Schools. Her freshman year at Cleveland Heights High School was phenomenal, achieving numerous successes. Emily earned two letters in her first year in high school, one for Choir (see music) and one for Tennis (see sports). Her grade point average was 3.83 for both semesters, showing outstanding work in all subjects, but especially in Mathematics and French. During the summer Emily became aware of an incredible oppourtunity which had her name written all over it, the Montessori High School at University Circle (MHS), a brand-new as of this year, International Baccalaureate, college preparatory education for the arts, sciences, and humanities. Emily currently is a sophomore at MHS and although missing Heights, is excelling in all areas of study, including an internship at University Hospitals (UH) where she works with children in the Women and Children's Outpatient Clinic . Emily is already thinking about college, and is planning on applying to many schools both national and international, such as Dartmouth, in New Hampshire, Northwestern, in Illinois, and University of Virginia. She hopes to pursue a career in either medicine, music, phycology, or piloting.

SPORTS: From birth, Emily has participated in many sports, such as soccer, basketball, swimming, gymnastics, and lacrosse. However, tennis has been the only sport that completely captured her attention. Emily first started her career as a tennis player at the age of 5. She started taking lessons and participating in clinics and camps at the Cleveland Skating Club. After 8 years of the CSC's training, she outgrew the level of skill that they had to offer her, and moved on to the Cleveland Racquet Club in 2006. All the hard work over the years paid off when she first starting competing in United States Tennis Association (USTA) tournaments in the 8th grade. A year later, Emily joined the Cleveland Heights High School's girl's tennis team as varsity's number 1 singles player. At the end of the season, she was surprised when her coach awarded her the name of Most Valuable Player. Emily continues to play tennis at the Cleveland Racquet Club and participates in USTA tournaments.

MUSIC: Emily has been taking piano lessons from Sara Smith since the age of 4 and has performed in various recitals around the greater Cleveland area. Emily first starting singing in St. Paul's Episcopal Church's Children's Choir in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, directed by Dr. Richard Nelson and his wife, Dr. Beth Nelson. She first started in 1998, when she was 5 years old. Emily believes that most of her musical training came from the very talented and kind Nelsons. Emily first auditioned for the Cleveland Orchestra Children's Chorus in 3th grade while she had a terrible cold. Weeks later, she received a very nice rejection letter. Emily was not put down by this and continued singing in Dr. Nelson's choir. The very nice year, in 4th grade, Emily auditioned for the Children's Chorus with the same cold. Days later, she received an acceptance letter. This was only the beginning, she spent 4 years as a member of COCC, and then graduated at the end of 8th grade. She still visits Dr. Ann Usher, the director of COCC, on monday nights, when they rehearse. After her graduation from COCC, Emily auditioned for the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Chorus, a much more challenging all-state ensemble, directed by Frank Bianchi and Sheila Ludwig. She worked with her voice teacher, Cynthia O'Connell, on her audition piece, Sei Mei Sospiri, an Italian aria, and her sight reading skills. Being a much more experience musician, Emily got accepted the first time. She is now in her second year as a member of COYC, and occasionally performs with the Cleveland Orchestra Chorus, open to only adults. During Emily's freshman year, the Cleveland Heights High School Choir director, Craig McGaughy allowed Emily to audition before any other freshman were allowed, after hearing of Emily's experience with the Cleveland Orchestra Choruses. Mr. McGaughy was impressed with her talent and accepted Emily in a year early. With the Height's Choir, Emily traveled to New Orleans to work with Habitat for Humanity and performed at Preservation Hall and at other sites. Emily is also a member of the Ohio Music Educators Association (OMEA) All-State Choir, a major ensemble featuring the best singers from all over the state.
