Meranti is the Wikipedia user name of a formation evaluation professional with over 25 years of experience working in the oil and gas industry, and now based in Western Australia. Meranti is initiating a Wikiproject on Formation Evaluation, with colleagues from the Formation Evaluation Society of Western Australia[1]. The name "Meranti" comes from a family of trees of the Shorea genus, the most important timber genus in tropical Asia, of the family Dipterocarpaceae. --Meranti 10:17, 19 August 2006 (UTC)
