Laser Liposuction

Overview

Laser liposuction is a new procedure that makes it possible to melt away excess fat quickly and almost painlessly. Once the fat has been removed, laser liposuction also tightens the loose skin around the area that has been reduced.

Procedure

A laser liposuction procedure involves a small "probe containing a low-energy laser fiber directly into the targeted fat deposit" [1]. Once the laser, called a cannula, has been inserted in the target area, it is then moved around in order to melt fat by breaking down the fat molecule. The melted fat is then removed from the body through its natural waste system.

Benefits

Laser liposuction, as opposed to traditional liposuction, is a safer, quicker and a more rewarding process. By the end, there will be minimal scarring, no bleeding and is virtually painless. Laser liposuction not only melts the fat away, but also tightens the loose skin; when fat is removed, the skin stays the same causing the skin to hang and loose its firm look. Traditional liposuction left this loose skin and only removed the fat leaving its patients unhappy still. Laser liposuction was created in order to target both areas of removing fat and firming your skin.

Risks

The only risk for using this procedure is the risk one takes when getting any form of surgery. There are risks of complications but if your doctor is experienced and is knowledgeable there will be no issue with complications. When getting any surgery a side effect is bruising and swelling but they will eventually heal with time.
