Nepal is a beautiful country situated in the Ranges of Himalayas[1]. Mt.Fishtail[2] in the local name known as "Machapuchare[3]", is a mountain peak of Annapurna Himalayan Range situated in Gandaki[4] North Central Province of Nepal.

It resembles the shape of a Fishtail and hence the name given to it in Nepali as Machapuchare i.e. English version the "Fishtail".

Its double summit resembles the tail of a fish, hence the name meaning "fish's tail" in Nepalese. It is also nicknamed the "Matterhorn of Nepal".

It is a sacred peak for the Gurungs[5] and the people of Chomrong.

The mountain is said to be sacred as a home to the Lord Shiva.

This oval-shaped plateau sits at an altitude of over 4000 metres, and is surrounded by a ring of mountains, the Annapurna range, most of which are over 7000 metres.

As Canadian who's never been there, the best I can see would be if we could put 16 CN Tower on top of each other; I'm not climbing it to paint the top piece. When looking it up on Wikipedia saw 11751 km to mt Everest but really only 271 km to base of it to fishtail mountain. Comeau Robert (talk) 00:37, 8 February 2023 (UTC)

Mt. Fishtail is located in the beautiful city of Pokhara that is about 200.5 km drive or 30 minutes by flight from the capital city of Kathmandu. Chomrong is a village in Nepal on the Annapurna Base Camp trekking route and the main ethnicity of the people of Chomrong is Gurung who are supposed to have Mongolian roots who came to Nepal via Tibet many centuries ago. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Srai047 (talk • contribs) 16:57, 9 February 2023 (UTC)

The Annapurna Range boasts several notable peaks, such as Annapurna I (8,091m), Nilgiri (7,061m), Machhapuchchhre (6,993m), and Dhaulagiri I (8,167m).In addition to its peaks, the region is home to the Annapurna Conservation Area and various trekking routes, including the Annapurna Circuit trek that encircles the Annapurna Range, the Kali Gandaki River Valley trek through the world's deepest valley, and the Annapurna Sanctuary Trek to the Annapurna Base Camp.
