Request for comment on what breweries to include in the list

{{rfc|econ|soc}} Should the list include any brewery in California for which a reliable secondary source can be provided (like this)? The article was changed recently to include only breweries that have their own Wikipedia articles (like this). There have been previous discussions about this question, so an RFC is appropriate.

  • Yes, the list should include any brewery in California for which a reliable secondary source can be provided. That's what comprises a "list of breweries in California". Some editors have suggested that this would violate WP:NOTDIRECTORY, but that's not the case. There's a very clear definition of what constitutes a commercial brewery in California, and there's nothing vague or un-encyclopedic about this topic. Since the article has listed these other breweries for many years, editors who want to remove them should provide a compelling reason why doing so would improve Wikipedia for our readers.
