Clown who never actually saw the actual Balto in person. I saw Balto many years ago at the museum. I am a huge expert on the Serum Run of 1925. I read from books he was a Siberian Husky. Balto was not a Karelian Bear Dog those are a kind of hunting canine. They were only popular during the time for the exotic animal fur trade, helping get of vermin, or helping it masters' get a good kill. Hence the word "BEAR" is in it's breed name. Hunting dogs aren't considered as sled dogs. However it's in the Spitz family of canines like the Siberian Husky, Pembroke Welsh Corgi, or the Pomeranian.
