FastDraft was originally written by a lawyer in Atlanta, GA for use by his law firm. It was designed to facilitate the creation of documents for Estate Planning. The original version ran on DOS and used WordPerfect as the word processor. In 1996, InterActive Professional Software released FastDraft for Windows version 1.0.

InterActive Professional Software was setup to take the original version of FastDraft to market and upgrade it to take advantage of the capabilities of Windows NT/95 and the advances in word processor technology. Development was outsourced to an experienced developer who was responsible for rewriting the application to run on the Windows platform.

FastDraft for Windows was well received in the marketplace. As demand increased, a client/server version was released in 1997.

FastDraft enjoyed widespread success and in 1998 BankOne chose it as their platform to release a package of document templates sold to attorneys in 13 states. These allowed the users to create valid estate planning documents that BankOne would accept as trustee. The user could not edit the templates unless they purchased an upgraded license from InterActive and paid a licensing fee to BankOne.

In 1999, the development was outsourced to FasTrac Software, Inc.

In 2001, InterActive Professional Software was reorganized as Valeo Software, LLC.

Version 3.0 was released in 2002 with version 4.0 following in 2003.

In late 2003, Valeo Software, LLC ceased operations and FastDraft fell into limbo with an installed base of over 5000 users.
