Randall B Smith

I currently work as a software researcher for Oracle Labs in Oracle Corporation, formerly for Sun Labs in Sun Microsystems, but my PhD is in theoretical physics from U.C. San Diego. I have mainly published in computer science: with David Ungar, I coauthored the pure object oriented language Self, and while working at Xerox PARC created the Alternate Reality Kit. These are systems that simultaneously embody abstraction and concreteness, and thereby try to enable the user to create while facilitating understanding.

I've taught Physics at several California universities, mainly U.C.Davis. For Wikipedia, I'd be interested in trying to clarify articles about physics, or to contribute material on object-oriented programming languages.
