Sovereign Soundz
Sovereign Soundz contains three most influential upcoming rappers of 2012; Najee Greene a.k.a "N.R.G", Kevin Adena a.k.a "Retro Rymz", and Christopher Rodriguez a.k.a "The Emissary" all born in 1993 in Brooklyn and going to different Colleges all shared one thing in common. It was their love for Hip-Hop/Rap. Before they met they all went to the same High school Brooklyn College Academy. Christopher had already been performing under the name "Absolution" for a previous group called "Deli Productions" while Kevin did covers to other songs such as "Who Shot Ya" by Biggie and Najee just wrote lyrics from time to time. They later met overtime and begin to hang out when the cafe in their sch<nowiki>Insert non-formatted text here</nowiki>ool became the source for people to hang out during lunch. They liked to talk about music and the music they wrote frequently. They began to put up lyrics on the popular social network site called "Facebook" from time to time. After their lyrics began to receive positive review from others at school and their families, they suggested they should form a rap group. Najee had came up with the idea "Dark swagg" which came from a convo he had with somebody else deciding which is better "Light swagg" or "Dark Swagg". Kevin agreed to it and told Chris calling the group "Darkswagg Productions". They started the group off by recording songs in Kevin's home with few resources at their disposal. Not happy with the way they were recording Kevin decided to hire a producer named "iDrop" to help provide them with a studio and mix down their songs. Their first mixtape that came out was called "We Are...Darkswagg". The name comes from the 2 songs they recorded called "We Are" and "Dark Swag". months later after the first mixtape came out in late 2011, Najee began discussing about the second mixtape to Chris and then he later proposed a name change to the group because he thought the name "Darkswagg" was too juvenile and beneath them. After days of contemplating what they should be called, Najee and Chris finally decided to call themselves "Sovereign Soundz". Many people favored this over their previous name. Thus Sovereign Soundz was born. They have performed at venues such as "The Door", "Sapphire Lounge", and "Cafe Omar" and will continue to perform at other venues throughout their career.
