I have been a contributor to Wikipedia since 2006 writing on a variety of subjects ranging from warships in the Age of Sail (on which I am a well-known published author) to demographic statistics and government structures for a considerable range of countries, and a great number of disparate topics on which I have expertise.

While I try not to refer to my own books when editing, other editors refer to them as they have become the recognised "standard" works on the subject! Thus in 2008 another editor created The Sail and Steam Navy List about a book of which I am the co-author. And again in 2010 another user established the British Warships in the Age of Sail article about the series of four volumes of which I am the author, and the co-author of similar volumes on the naval forces of other nations.
