I was based at RAF Little Rissington 1962 to 1964 and 1964 to 1966 as Instrument Mechanic. I was placed on emergency standby in 1965. I married my wife, Carole in Jan 1966 and still married, 2020. I witnessed the transition from Red Pelicans to Red Arrows as working on HP2. I serviced Jet Provests (Red Pelicans) and operated on the front line. Whilst out on the line and Red Arrows/Pelicans did a "beatup" over their ground crew, we involuntary ducked, as they were much lower (less than 10 feet) than at any show. They were good.
