Warner Poland (born May 6, 1972) is an American musician, music producer, and composer, best known for his film scores and as long-time musical director and guitarist for German Singer Nina Hagen.

Life and career

Warner grew up in Berlin after his parents (Dr. Alan Poland and Elizabeth Poland), both music teachers, moved there to teach music at the John F. Kennedy School. Immediately after graduating from school, Warner's band, "Fanman", was signed to Sing Sing/BMG. Fanman released one album and three singles before disbanding in 1995. In 1996 Warner was hired by German punk icon Nina Hagen as her guitarist and musical director for a European Tour. During this time Warner also worked in the studio with fellow musician and film composer, Johnny Klimek, before finally opening his own studio. In 1998, Warner teamed up with Wolfgang Glum (drummer of the German Band "The Rainbirds" to form Monobeat, a music production company and studio.

The 2000s saw Warner and Wolfgang, composing more and more music for films, television series and made for TV movies. In 2002, Warner had the opportunity to collaborate on the Film score to Pigs Will Fly with American guitarist Chris Whitely and Kai-Uwe Kohlschmidt. Warner also continued his live duties with Nina Hagen, performing concerts across Europe. In 2011, Warner played on Nina Hagen's album "Volxbeat" along with Graham Maybe and Dave Haughton, the rhythm section of the Joe Jackson band. Warner also wrote the song "Soma Koma" that was featured on "Volxbeat".

2017 saw the release of Monobeat's score to the TV Mini Series ["Tod im Internat"].

In 2018, Warner was brought in by German International Broadcaster DW (Deutsche Welle) as a consultant to oversee the creation of station's new Audio Design.
