A Different Me… is the title of the upcoming album by the British Somalian singer and model Sheano. Originally slated for an August release to compete with the end of Ramadan sales the album was eventually pushed back for an end of year release as the singer battled with a very intense legal battle with the record label which eventually ended with being dropped.

Background & Development

The album originally began work in the summer of 2013, where the singer released the smash hit single “The Beginning” which eventually went on to be met with landmark sales success hitting the 50,000 mark in just a week. The single previewed on Facebook with 30,000 fans liking the preview and many more commenting. This single saw the singer starting off his career with a bang and making his mark in the music industry. In an interview with KissFM London Sheano was asked about the title of the song, what it signifies and what the tracks ambience is. He went onto say that “It is really about the new beginning that I am going through, and it is really an up-tempo song to show my fans who I really am, and where I’m going”. Months later Sheano began composing and writing songs for the album which at the time had no name, and was later revealed via twitter that the album would be titled “A Different Me…”, resulting in wild anticipation for the album.

Album Composition & Concept

In an interview with This Morning, Holly Willoughby asked Sheano about the album’s concept which later revealed to the public that is about a whole change of character. “This album is all about bringing a new change in my life, to be honest my whole life I have been insecure, this album is about saying you know what? BAM … I have arrived, and I am letting go of all the insecurities, and I’m gonna do me.” This public outburst was met with high anticipation which eventually brought the whole show more than 3 thousand more ratings and views than normal. It was reported that Sheano was dropped from his label on August 9th 2013 around midnight from sources that say they tapped into the singer’s Blackberry messaging services eventually leaking to the public a status saying “All my hard work has been thrown away because they dropped me :’( “. This then led to an episode of depression for the singer and model as he was nowhere to be seen by the public for months. During this time Sheano’s biggest competitor Yubillicious swept the summer with landmark singles that eventually saw him charting at the top of 4 different genres. Yubillicious then released an album that took half of the market share of the music industry resulting in chart-topping sales with his debut album “Slim Look” which hit the shelves. The beginning of November saw Sheano signing a new record label with InterScope records home to big artists such as Keri Hilson, Lady GaGa and Madonna, which was eventually leaked by sources from his facebook with a status saying “Back from my break, coming back to the industry for my fans.. Are you all ready to see A Different Me…? “.

Releases

Sheano already stated that the album was going to be a full album with around 14 tracks on the standard edition and another 4 tracks on the deluxe edition. Due to the legal problems and the copyright issues “The Beginning” will not be featuring on the new album as it has been outdated and now has become a part of the old record contract thus meaning that they own the single. A new single has been written and produced by “Timbaland” and written by the American singer and songwriter Brandy tentatively titled “Everything’s Going Right” which has been confirmed for a release on the 9st December hitting the shelves midnight the night before. Everything’s Going Right sold 15,000 units in its first week, and hit a landmark for the singer since the summer smash hit was released despite still not reaching its success. It has been reported that the second single is going to be released on the 22nd of December which is yet to be revealed. A Different Me… has been scheduled for a worldwide release on the 25th December 2013 estimated to sell around quarter of a million in its first week by Nielson Soundscan. The sales of the album will determine whether the deluxe edition will be made available the week after or whether it will be shelved due to lack of profit which is set for a release on the 31st December ending the year with a bang.
