Ryan Bros Music consists of Billy and Brendan Ryan; musicians that write and record music for film, television and advertising.

They are best know as founding members of the bands The Bogmen and Gordon Gano (Violent Femmes) & The Ryans as well as their score work with the Farrelly Brothers and Keanu Reeves.

In 2017, they scored two documentaries called "Driven" and "Old Dog"  and are currently finishing their score for indie movie  "Green Dolphin" of which Keanu Reeves is the executive producer..

They recently wrote 13 songs with Julia Haltigan and called the project LUAN. Four songs got licensed in Peter Farrelly's (of the Farrelly Brothers) new comedy LOUDERMILK starring Ron Livingston and Will Sasso. One got licensed in NCIS: Los Angeles as well as Get Shorty, the TV mini series.

In 2016 they scored the critically acclaimed The Dunning Man starring Nicoye Banks.

In 2015 they scored The Lost Trophy a documentary about the greatest lacrosse team ever and the untold story of the Gait brothers, twins who revolutionized the game, the coach who created champions and their missing trophy.

Ryan Bros’ music was licensed for Netflix Season 1 of Bloodline (Sam Shepard, Sissy Spacek), My Dead Boyfriend a comedy with Anthony Edwards and Heather Graham and Dead Rising: Watchtower, an action horror film starring Rob Riggle.

In 2014 they scored Welcome to Soldier Ride, a film about fearless friends who cycled 4,000 miles across the country, paving the way for thousands of wounded veterans to keep riding.

Nominated for 'Best Original Theme Song/Music in TV' by Hollywood Music in Media, Ryan Bros Music wrote the main title song for Fox’s DADS, a Seth MacFarlane produced comedy in 2013-14. In addition to the main title theme, they scored all 19 of the season’s episodes.

They have scored and/or licensed their music to films such as Side by Side (Keanu Reeves, Martin Scorsese), The Heartbreak Kid (Ben Stiller, Malin Akerman), Fever Pitch (Drew Barrymore, Jimmy Fallon) Pride and Glory (Ed Norton, John Voight), Hall Pass (Owen Wilson) and the trailer for Henry’s Crime (Keanu Reeves, James Caan).

The theme song for Showtime’s Season 3 of Borgias commercial (Jeremy Irons) and a scene for IFC’s comedy The Marc Maron Show were also scored by the brothers.

Advertising projects include RadioShack, Best Buy, the United Nations, VH1 and IFC.

Following college they settled in Greenwich Village and played clubs as The Bogmen. After a few years playing in N.Y.C. and around the North East,the band signed to Clive Davis’ Arista Records. In 1995 they released “Life Begins at Forty Million,” produced by Jerry Harrison of the Talking Heads. After touring with Shane MacGowan(The Pogues) and Barenaked Ladies the band returned to Greenwich Village  to record their follow up, Closed Captioned Radio. Produced by Bill Laswell and Godfrey Diamond the album was released in 1997. They opened for Kiss, The Ramones, and many indie rock bands.

Due to a lack of  of mainstream success, differences with their label, and financial woes the band broke up in 1999.

Billy and Brendan Ryan are writers and founding members of four bands:

1. The Bogmen signed to Clive Davis’ Arista Records in 1995 and received critical acclaim from Billboard and The New York Times^[1]. They still play to sold out shows in the New York area. Mad Larry continues to write and perform in NYC.
2. Gordon Gano & The Ryans^[2] released Under the Sun on Yep Roc Records. Gordon is the lead singer and songwriter of the Violent Femmes.
3. LUAN: a NYC Based collaboration with Julia Haltigan

Brendan has contributed orchestral work with The New Pornographers, and has made studio contributions on Okervil River and Vampire Weekend’s records, the latter of which received a Grammy for Best Alternative Album 2013.

Brendan’s wife, Kritsin-Irvine Ryan was killed in the September 11th attacks. The Bogmen knew many victims and were very affected by the events. On December 14 and 15, 2001 the band got together and played two sold out nights at Irving Plaza in New York City. They raised over $150,000 for charity and released “Love at Irving Plaza^[3].” Brendan, with the help of his family and friends still runs a charity for his wife, now called “Kristy’s Smile” which benefits people in need, homeless, and veterans. Since 2001, over $1M has been raised to help those in need.

The brothers grew up in Huntington, N.Y. Early on they played in the Finley Junior High School Band. Brendan played trumpet, Billy, trombone. Brendan soon took a liking to the Ryan family’s Lowrey Organ. He began to excel rapidly and began lessons. When Bill injured his knee playing lacrosse he began playing guitar in his downtime. During High School they started their own band 'The Still' and later 'The Plummers.'
