Formative Years

The Jon K Revolution was originally an improvised songs act that originally began as the Jon K Revolution in Cleveland, Ga. While attending the campus of Truett McConnell College, Jonathan Keith Smith was originally in a musical called the Jon K Project, which lasted from 2005-2006. In 2006, the Jon K Revolution was formed as a solo project, which focused on songwriting and improvisation of lyrics. Originally, Jon K would improvise songs by singing and sometimes rapping lyrics that were obscene, sexist, and were somewhat controversial. In the fall of 2007, Jon K left for GCSU and the Jon K Revolution was dead as a result.^[1]

Return to Truett McConnell College and Rebirth of the Jon K Revolution

In Spring/Winter 2008, the Jon K Revolution, which had been a solo project after the break-up of the Jon K Project, began to make music again. Inspired by his return to Truett McConnell College and meeting up with his friends again, he decided to make music once again. After awhile, Jon K began to shed the sexist and sometimes obscene image of his improvised and written lyrics. He began to travel a path of responsibility because he realized that he audience was beginning to consist of mixed company. Due to his Christian beliefs, he also changed the tone of his songs. Later in his career as a musician, Jon K decided to quit improvising on songs due to his love of creative writing and began seeing his lyrics, poetry, and music as art. Truett's Got Talent, Truett Idol, And Recorded Albums

In the summer of 2009, Jon K began recording albums in Jon K studios in his home county of Rabun County, Georgia. This was when his first album, A Poorly Put Together Musical Revolution was recorded at this time. The contents of this album were fairly vain, but at times it seen by listeners as somewhat hilarious. The forgettable and poorly written Songs For the Sake of Sarcasm was recorded in the Fall/Winter of 2009. The songs from this album were the most aggressive in nature in terms of guitar playing and lyrics. The album is pure vanity and nonsense. This album was his sophomore slump. In Early 2010, Revolt EP was released. This EP featured cuts that were originally meant for a Poorly Put Together Musical Revolution. The EP featured songs that was not good enough for a Jon K Revolution album. In April 2010, Jon K's favorite album ever recorded by himself was released. This album was called Abstract Falcon. Abstract Falcon was originally intended to be a concept album. The lyrics for the album were intended to be both artistic and usually funny. Two songs on the album were reserved to express personal views, other than that the album was a balance between art and humor. During his latter years as Truett McConnell student, Jon K was a notable participant in Truett's Got Talent and Truett Idol, along with being known for cover of Freebird on his Facebook page. At Truett's Got Talent he performed Bon Jovi's Wanted Dead or Alive. At Truett Idol, he performed We are the Champions, which was the best known cover song he performed live. Influences Metal, PunK, The Beatles, a slight hint of country, Rap, and others have influenced the lyrics and music of the Jon K Revolution. Equipment

All of the albums except Abstract Falcon were recorded a distorted sounding children's guitar from the Santa Rosa Guitar Company. It was a classical guitar with acoustic strings, which caused a distorted sound. Abstract Falcon was recorded with an Ibanez acoustic cutaway guitar, which produced better sound than the other guitar.
