Randy Johnson

Introduction

I have been playing baseball my entire life. Living in Washington State growing up watching the Mariners play there's one Seattle legend I've always been fascinated with and that's Hall of Famer Randy Johnson. Randy Johnson best seasons were spent with the Seattle Mariners, and the Arizona Diamondbacks winning a World Series with them. Randy had a long career putting up legendary numbers and most notably completing one of the hardest feats as a pitcher throwing a perfect game. I visited the Randy Johnson article on Wikipedia and looked for policy violations, ways to develop the article, and other issues.

Policy Violations

The Randy Johnson article is well articulated and doesn't seem to contain any bias. Randy's career is well documented through out the whole article giving tons of facts and information about his career even talking about smaller things that may not be impactful such as games he missed due to rehabilitation. One flaw I found was that there aren't any citations talking about his years with the Montreal Expos from 1988 to 1989. And no citations about his year with the Houston Astros in 1998. For someone who isn't familiar with Randy Johnson the lack of authenticity and proof might make someone skeptical about those two topics.

Development

There is a ton of information about Randy Johnson in this article. With such a wide range of information it well documents just about everything Randy Johnson has done through his baseball career. Accurately states every team he's played on, every major accomplishment, his pitching style, his legacy, and even individual years. This article even includes some information about Randy Johnson outside of baseball like his acting career and photography career. I like the pictures they include in the article showing Randy through his career and even showing the infamous moment where he struck a bird mid pitch. There are a ton of great aspects to this article but some subjects need more work such as the information about his personal life. it's too short and bland compared to the other subjects, so short it might as well not even be there. And there could be more about his photography career which he still does now.

Other Issues

As I scan through the article over and over again I'm struggling to find any major issues. The only real things are lack of information about his personal life and a few missed possible citations about his time with the Expos and Astros. Other than that this article offers everything you would need to know about Randy Johnson. This article does a great job providing accurate citations and references, they even have an external links section provided at the bottom providing statistics from verified sources such as MLB, ESPN, and others.

Conclusion

I would rate this article as really good. This article does a really good job of incorporating neutrality, authenticity, and verifiability. This article offers everything you need to know about Randy Johnson. It accurately covers his stats, legacy, accomplishments, personal life, and overall career. Now obviously, there are a few minor flaws such as poor information about his stint with the Montreal Expos and Houston Astros with no citations or verifiability for those years. But this article does make up for those mistakes with 108 total references and an external links section where you can go even deeper. This is one of the more complete Wikipedia articles I've seen, people can feel confident when reading this article and I hope it will continue to be developed in the future.
