 Aralia Spinosa, the tree commonly known as Devil's Walking Stick

has a corky center core and is very easy to debark. The trunk is thorny however it may be disarmed by briskly whisking it on all sides with a club sized stick. After being debarked and cut to the desired length, the core of the would-be tube is easily removed using an appropriately sized massionary bit. Amoung it's many uses the wood tube derived from the Aralia Spinosa tree may serve well as a storage tube, a rope handle, a bird perch, a wand, or a club. As a matter of fact, "Hercules' Club" is a common name for the tree. When used as a float for a fishing rig, a short length of the stick cut from the Aralia Spinosa may float better after drying if the corky center core is left in tack.
