John Cena was disqualified when Rob Van Dam discovered a loose turnbuckle, after the woke up from a hit. In actuality Edge undid the turnbuckle, but RVD disqualified Cena because he was closest to the turnbuckle. As a result, Cena retained the WWE Championship.
After the match, Edge speared RVD because he wanted another shot at the title.
The win came as a surprise to many WWE fans, Undertaker was scheduled not to have a match for that evening, in reality, this was the day that Undertaker had to have surgery on his bicep from an injury a month ago.
It was booked to have him relinquish the World Heavyweight Championship the following Smackdown, but Randy Orton faced him anyway and won, per Jonathan Coachman's orders.
