ANI

There is a discussion about your use of the word "libel" taking place at WP:ANI. Generally speaking, our policy on legal threats is very strict, so that is one of the words that is best avoided. WP:NLT is the policy in question. I don't think you violated policy with this statement but legal wording has a trigger effect around here. Obviously legal threats aren't allowed, but legal sounding statements that have a "chilling effect" on discussion are also not allowed. This is just a friendly note to remind you to tread carefully. As for the dispute, that isn't my concern. I'm an admin here, I don't deal with content issues, I just try to mop up and keep the peace. Dennis Brown - 11:15, 31 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Not sure why this matters as I haven't looked at Wiki for 3 days. That was my work and I was merely trying to show what you would be missing out on if you allow people like Tirailleur to make defamatory statements. I am perfectly well aware that you merely have to press the 'undo' button to correct it. I don't see how doing something once can be "persistent". DaveHMBA (talk) 20:36, 3 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

What you did is called disrupting Wikipedia to make a point, and it's another serious no-no. When your block expires, you need to be much more interested in learning how things are done around here, and less in settling scores. EEng 05:17, 4 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
Well, I should have tweaked the template, but EEng is right. Do it again and it will be long enough so that you notice it. Doug Weller talk 14:45, 4 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
You are both rather arrogantly assuming that I would be doing anything on a site, which allows Tirailleur to pursue his agendas with defamatory statements and takes no action, when a complaint is made. 146.90.254.194 (talk) 02:42, 11 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Elliot, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page John Eliot (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Your submission at Articles for creation: Anton Mayer von Heldenfeld (October 23)

Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reason left by Drmies was:
This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.
The comment the reviewer left was:
Unclear writing (with too much yappage and non-neutral language), unclear sourcing (huge paragraphs, lack of sourcing).
Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit after they have been resolved.

Your submission at Articles for creation: Matthias von Fasbender (November 30)

Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reason left by ChrysGalley was:
This submission reads more like an essay than an encyclopedia article. Submissions should summarise information in secondary, reliable sources and not contain opinions or original research. Please write about the topic from a neutral point of view in an encyclopedic manner.
The comment the reviewer left was:
At the moment this reads more like an essay for a specialist historical publication rather than an encyclopedia entry. To give one example of many, the Lead section is supposed to give a crisp outline of the biography and indicate to the reader why it may be worth their time to proceed further. In this case we get a largely unsourced meander straight into the subject's early days, with no indication of notability. It is necessary for the reader to read the whole essay before deciding he was probably notable for being Archduke Charles' less than admired and possibly corrupt sidekick for a few years.

Notability will need multiple in-depth source confirmation. I can see the references in Criste, so that is one valid source. There are other sources that look to be primary or in passing, without depth of coverage. The risk here is WP:OR.

The are also strong statements made without citations (e.g. suicide suggestion). Indeed the article is closely cited in some areas, and not others. The essayist gives unsourced analysis ("Fasbender skilfully attempted to maneuver between the two parties") to the extent of veering towards parti pris.
Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit after they have been resolved.
