One more thing, on what I said about restoring articles, I started building User:BOZ/Marvel deletions a few months ago and I am nowhere near finished. Most of these characters will be difficult or impossible to source properly, but if there are any that you can find, say, at least 3 good independent sources for, then I can bring them back. :) I tend to restore character articles anyway when they are appearing in MCU projects because they will get more attention and can be improved. It's definitely admirable for you to continue working on existing character articles, as those sure need work and you do some impressive stuff there already. :) If you do come across sources for characters without their own current articles, most of them do have entries on one of the subpages of Lists of Marvel Comics characters so you can always find or start an entry on those lists and add the sources there! That would make a later split of the character to its own article much easier.
One idea I had is that when I find the time I can see what character articles have tags for notability or needing more sources and make a list of them for you, so that you can see what you can do to improve those. :) BOZ (talk) 04:20, 9 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

For now, I will focus on the different articles that have already been created by other contributors (non-Marvel related pages). Like this, I can try to prevent old articles from being deleted, then, I can move on to the pages which will be created once the MCU extends with new characters.

I hope you are doing well! Comics characters have not been on my radar much lately as I have been working on other projects, but so glad to see you are still pitching in. A user went and redirected a few dozen Marvel character articles over the last couple of days; most of them are likely to stay that way, but there are a few that may have potential, so I will list them here.
First of all, these do have some non-trivial independent sourcing, so they might be more easily challenged:
And of course, we know that just because an article had no independent sources at all, does not mean that no such sources exist, so if you find the time to go through the full list, just check here for all the articles that were redirected this week: [3] There are definitely a few there that I think should have sources, but I did not include them here because there were already a lot to list...

So to better illustrate what I was talking about earlier, finding already existing character articles with notability tags, I went through this page and started looking for Marvel characters listed there, so I found for starters Adrienne Frost, Andromeda (Marvel Comics), and Azazel (Marvel Comics) under "A", so of course there will be a bunch more. You may be able to source some of them properly, or maybe none, and hopefully eventually someone else can come along and fix them? You can always do something similar as how you did on Barney Barton, make the edits and then note on the talk page that you believe you have fixed the issue, and then if no one objects after a while I think the tag can just be removed. I'm not sure if you wanted to continue going through the notability tagged articles, but in case you are willing, I went through the "B" articles and that would be Baron Von Blitzschlag, Barracuda (Marvel Comics), and Bluebird (Marvel Comics). Most of them do have other media appearances, so I've got to figure sources are out there. I'd say you did pretty good with the "A" articles, adding sourcing to more of them than not. You did your best, we will win some and lose some, and with some of the ones we lose we may have an opportunity to bring them back later, potentially boosted by what you add now. :) Don't be discouraged, I've brought back many deleted articles on my own and with the help of others. Two good recent examples are Lexicon (card game) which was deleted and is going to appear on the main page soon for DYK, and another is Infinite Conflict which was deleted at AFD but just today passed AFC. Don't give up! :)
As for a change in approach, I like your conversion of accolades on Firestar into prose for example [29] and I think that would be a good approach going forward. Just listing rankings doesn't say a lot about the character (other than, in my mind, they were notable by being noted) but saying something like "CBR ranked this character #3 because of their interesting personality" actually does speak a little towards why people like a character. Tell me about it, I agree it's too many for one person to work on, especially when the nominator plans to continue daily. Do what you can, I say. Remember that the trick at AFD is not to convince the nominator that the article is worth keeping (although I have seen this happen), but to convince potential voters that the article is worth keeping, which is what I always keep in mind. Updating on this situation; several of them have been closed as "merge", although I would say that we have a certain indeterminate window of time, if any sources can be found, to add them to the article and petition either the closing admin and/or deletion review to have the close relisted or overturned. I would say that this would be especially true of Abner Jenkins, as he had a starring role in Thunderbolts for many years; it could also be true of Gibbon (character) who went from obscure to more regular use in recent years. Rocket Racer, Ringer (comics), Stilt-Man, Crime Master, and Roderick Kingsley were likewise closed as merge so they will be ultimately merged unless sources are found.
Mac Gargan was closed as keep, in large part because of the work you put into it. :) Burglar was likewise closed as keep, as the nominator withdrew the nomination.
Boomerang, Beetle, and Chameleon were also relisted and remain at AFD for another week, but I am hopeful that the work you put into those will allow them to be closed as keep, but even if they ultimately go to merge at least they are safe from full deletion. :) Thank you once again for your efforts and work! No worries, Abner Jenkins is not gone yet, and once it does get redirected I suspect will not be gone forever; the merge has not been completed yet, so as I outlined above it can still be worked on in the meantime. Even after an article is merged, you can add sources on its talk page using the Template:Redideas. I forgot to mention this so far but right now I'm running a test for Template:Refideas editnotice to appear on any articles which use that template on the talk page and I hope for this to go live on all articles in about a week. The benefit of this is that you can accumulate sources for redirected articles and save them up for a time when you honestly believe that it can be restored. You may find that useful for character articles, and anything else you want to work on? You can even use it now for existing articles whenever you are not sure how to incorporate a source and think someone else could use it or even save it for later for yourself. Regarding Asbestos Man, I did work on that article a long time ago, and added everything I could.
No worries, I knew you already looked at Asbestos Man, and I noticed the Death-Throws discussion late myself, so it's all good. Merge is not the worst fate ever because it's a lot easier to bring an article back once sources are found. Burglar was part of that mass of nominations back in October; if you do have some good sources for that or any other article that gets merged (or even deleted) because of an AFD, it's not the end of the road. I talked previously about restoring articles when sources are found, and that is more of a down-the-road project, but I was reusing some of the sources you found for Eternals characters, and I saw that Interloper (comics) and Kronos (comics) both had a couple of sources so I added them and restored them now. I think I may have enough sources for an article dealing with Ripley Ryan. But since even articles like Lylla get nominated for deletion, I am not sure this is a good idea.
I hear you. I created a redirect for now. A trick I use, and which you may want to adopt, is that when I find a good source but I don't feel I have enough to actually restore an article, I temporarily restore the article, add the source, and redirect it again. Following your advice, I am working on the characters whose first name begins with the letter "A." However, for some of these characters, such as Alyssa Moy and Agent X, I really struggle to find enough sources. Thus, a lot of information across some of these pages cannot be verified, and I cannot create a proper "Reception" section, which makes me think some of these characters may not be notable (yet).
So, I was wondering if you think Wikipedia should keep these pages or not.
Hey, thanks for asking me. :) My opinion on this will differ from lots of other people; many would say that articles like that should be merged to character lists, or deleted outright. Once upon a time, over a decade ago, I created more than my fair share of character articles over a decade ago that had no independent sources, and while some of those were subsequently sourced properly, most of them have been merged and some deleted. I no longer create or restore articles in that sort of condition for that reason. My opinion as an "eventualist" is that it is better to leave these already existing but poorly sourced articles in place, in hopes that someone will eventually be able to find proper sources for them, or that sources will be published sooner or later to source them properly. You've definitely vastly improved more than a few articles, which had little or no independent sources beforehand, so it can definitely be done. :) My feeling is that someday someone else may find more sources when you couldn't find them now, so just let them alone - if they really can't be sourced, then someone else will eventually merge or delete them. Hello, I'd like to discus some of the recent edits we've both made on the Sabra page. I'd like to start off by saying, that your last message was really troubling and hurt me quite a bit, implying a kind of bigotry and malice that I totally condemn. I understand the defensiveness, antisemitism is very real and I imagine the Sabra page is probably one that faces a good deal of vandalism.
Explaining my viewpoint:
I visited the Sabra page because she is to feature in the upcoming Captain America film. I saw, what I believed to be unencyclopedic information in the form of listicle accolades fluffing her page. I delete it, like any responsible user would. And then a prolific editor, you, comes along and reinserts the unencyclopedic material. You cite me a style guide that seemingly contradicts your own edits. Then, I look at your page, see you're a dedicated editor of many comic book character pages. And sure enough, when I go to look, on almost every page you've edited is this same, unencyclopedic material. I'm not petty. I wasn't going to get into a flame war with a dedicated Wikipedia user and delete scores of your work, only for you to immediately undo them. That would be unproductive for both of us.
I'd like to reiterate that the use of these types of listicles on a Wikipedia page is unencyclopedic. Someone looking up Captain America isn't going to care that in 2018 CBR.com ranked Steve Rogers' Captain America persona 1st in their "20 Versions Of Captain America Ranked Worst To Best" list. CBR.com literally puts out 5 Marvel comic listicles a day. These don't meet the requirements set forth by the style guide. This isn't relevant, helpful, or constructive information. Listicles are not accolades. Anyone can make a listicle at any time. I appreciate your efforts to improve the page, but I believe that the inclusion of listicles and similar content is not appropriate for a Wikipedia page. I understand that you have dedicated a lot of time to editing these pages, but I think that it's important to ensure that the information we include is relevant, helpful, and constructive for all readers.
I've deleted the listicles from Sabra's page once again. I hope that we can work together to find more appropriate ways to present information about Sabra that are helpful and informative for a wide range of readers. These rankings were not my idea in the first place. They were already there on several pages for years, although displayed as paragraphs (ex. IGN's rankings). I just continued the work done by other users. I did not invent the concept at all.

I am sorry but I am not sure I understand what you are talking about, as I was not even aware that there was a The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (season 1) article, to be completely honest. I do not have an interest in The Lord of the Rings franchise. Could you please tell me what you are referring to ? Because on National Treasure: Edge of History, and on many articles, I mainly edit "Reception."
If you are talking about Whip Media's TV Time, I check Media Play News as a source every week, and copy the sentences from previous articles I have been editing all along. If you are talking about IMDb's ReFrame Stamp, I copied it directly from Hawkeye (but I added this information in the first place), although another user (probably Favre1fan93) completely re-wrote what I added and phrased it better than I did.

Regarding the title of this article, I genuinely did not know how to call it. A few characters have used the codename of Spider-Boy, so, I thought in case someone creates an article dealing with another superhero called Spider-Boy, there would not be a confusion between these characters.

The only other Spider-Boy I know of is of Amalgam Comics where that Spider-Boy is a combination of known clones Ben Reilly and Superboy and whose link is a redirect to List of Amalgam Comics characters ever since I had established a Spider-Boy disambiguation page. I checked the Marvel Fandom and there is no other characters named Spider-Boy outside of them. If one does pop up that is much different from Bailey Briggs, that could be a sub-header like how they have the different pages for those who have went by the name Scarlet Spider. I am sorry I took so long to respond to you.
Unfortunately, I feel like more reliable sources will be needed for the article to be moved. I would say a total of 40-50 might be enough. A few editors have proposed removing several Marvel-related articles, Spider-Boy would likely be their next target.
Rest assured I am checking every now and then to see if new reliable sources can be used. Nonetheless, if you believe the article is good enough, you can submit it for AFC. No problem.
If you find any other reliable sources as more issues come out as well as any that tie into his appearances in "The Superior Spider-Man" and "Gang War", then you can make use of those sources on the draft. In the meantime, I was able to add what I know about Killionaire in the rogues gallery section and bring up his spider-talk that was in the recent issue. Here is a follow-up on a previous message. The recent information in the last Spider-Boy comic did help improve the Spider-Boy draft and my redirect for Madame Monstrosity. We have one more issue to go of the current arc before the later issues with the upcoming issue involving the appearance of both Spider-Men, Squirrel Girl, Captain America, and Toy Soldier (who was reverse-engineered from the Super-Adaptoid technology).
