@George Ho: this is certainly unexpected. Thank you for pointing out. I will identify/fix the issue in a few days, I will not run the bot without fixing these issues and further tests. Thanks again, —usernamekiran (talk)16:12, 19 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@KEmel49: Hi. Thank you for pointing it out. Thankfully, there were not many edits like these. I have fixed a couple, will fix the rest now. I have also identified the issue in the code. —usernamekiran (talk)15:34, 20 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
lol. I fixed all the problematic edits. Working on the code now. Thank you very much for being civil/polite, generally when some bot (either mine, or other) does something wrong, I have seen editors being rude/hostile towards bot-operators. —usernamekiran (talk)15:48, 20 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Question from Xyz464
Hello,
Regarding the Western Syria clashes page,
I am in favor of changing the title to something like "Assad loyalist insurgency in Syria" sooner rather than lather.
There have already been numerous pro-former-government actions including clashes, assasinations etc.(a lot of which not yet described on that page), which have occurred outside of "Western Syria", and unfortunately there is no other "pro-government" insurgency page which could be used to document these events. With the number of these events increasing by each day, the title of the page is becoming more obsolete.
Instead of having to create an "insurgency/clashes" page for every theatre, this page could be renamed/utilized as a collection of these events under a single "insurgency/clashes" page, since i.e. the pro-government Syrian Popular Resistance is already claiming to be behind events that took place in Damascus, Deir Ez-Zor and others that aren't in Western Syria.
@MrBeePublic: Hello. If you go to any one of these two pages, on the top corner on right hand side, you would be able to see a foreign language symbol, and "A", with a number, and then "languages" (in this case: "(symbol) A 15 languages"). If you click on that, you would get a drop-down menu, and currently linked pages. From that drop-down menu, at the bottom, if you click on "add languages", you would get options "edit interlanguage links", and "translate this page". After clicking on edit links option, you will be taken to wikidata. There, on the top right corner, you will see "wikipedia entries", click edit on it, and you will have to input two terms: language code (tr), and and tr article Kanban_(geliştirme). That will do it. If you have any difficulties, let me know, or I can do it for you. —usernamekiran (talk)16:28, 24 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Michael Bednarek: Hello. The bot did similar edits to a few articles. I disabled it a few hours ago as soon as I realised the issue. I'm not sure why it is doing that though. I'm currently on mobile, and I will revert all these faulty edits as soon as I get to the computer. Apologies for the inconvenience. —usernamekiran (talk)10:54, 25 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Bro how do I like add a i dont what its called.. but when your press on something, like for an example... A name its leads u to their personal page --Tornadoboy2345 (talk) 15:19, 25 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
KiranBOT seems to be glitching out on this page, editing it over and over again to break URLs more and more. I see that you've disabled the bot due to other problems, but I still wanted to bring this up since it seems to be a different bug. Jay8g [V•T•E] 08:35, 27 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Jay8g and Michael Bednarek: I have fixed the issues. There were not many articles affected, and all have been repaired. In short, the issue was not with bot, but the way websites were providing the data to the bot. Even though the issues have been fixed, I want to test it thoroughly before running it on mainspace again, but it might take some time as I will be out of town for a few days. Thank you very much for being civil/polite, generally when some bot (either mine, or other) does something wrong, I have seen editors being rude/hostile towards bot-operators. —usernamekiran (talk)17:16, 28 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Michael Bednarek: Hi. It's an older version of the program, I haven't updated it. During the last bot trial, I had implemented a database as well. Also, after the bot trial — when the bot started actual runs, the functionality to programmatically/manually repair the amp URLs was removed. I'm currently on mobile, I will update the github repo soon when I get the chance, and I will let you know. —usernamekiran (talk)01:08, 29 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I'm interested in setting up my own wikipedia page and would like to ask you the criteria and if you could assist me in any way. I have had an amateur career in the sport of FootGolf for 6 years and have been capped by my country Wales 6 times, and for Great Britain V USA in the Jansen Cup, the equivalent to Golf's Ryder Cup. I have also represented Wales at the 2023 FootGolf World Cup in Orlando, USA in 2023. I'm currently the Senior No.1 FootGolf player in Wales National Tour Rankings. I can provide outside sources, but would be grateful for any assistance. --Welsh Maverick FootGolf (talk) 21:34, 27 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Micheldebakker: Hello. Starting with EN wikipedia is also acceptable, most of the editors edit only enwiki. I recommend you to take The Wikipedia Adventure, it is an interactive tutorial. Regarding your question about editing NL wikipedia, yes, you can, and should edit it with the same account. Also, WP:Teahouse is a good place to ask questions about Wikipedia, the advantage is, multiple experienced editors respond there. But please feel free to ask me if you have any doubts. —usernamekiran (talk)14:18, 30 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
