It was located in the North Kareliaregion. In 2019, the municipality had a population of 2,140 [2] and covered an area of 838.07 square kilometres (323.58 sq mi), of which 37.75 km2 (14.58 sq mi) was water.[1] The population density was 2.553/km2 (6.613/sq mi).
