West Bengal Day
Paschimbanga Dibas (Bengali: পশ্চিমবঙ্গ দিবস), also known as West Bengal Day, is the day, which is celebrated by peoples of West Bengal and dedicated to the Indian state of West Bengal. It will be officially celebrated every year on 1st Boishakh (April 14/15) according to the Bengali calendars (original version), which will start on 1st Boishakh of 1331 Baṅgābda or 15 April 2024.[1][2][3] HistoryOn 18 August 2023, Biman Banerjee, the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, has officially created the West Bengal Day Determination Committee.[4][5] A proposal to officially designate West Bengal Day was tabled in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly in August 2023.[3] After much deliberation, it was decided on August 22 to adopt the date 1st Boishakh or Pohela Boishakh (April 14/15) of the Bengal calendar (original version) as the official West Bengal Day.
