The NYC Wikidata Workshop and Skill Share was held with the Wikimedia NYC community on Sunday December 14, 1-5pm at 55 Washington Street in Brooklyn's DUMBO neighborhood.

Date:: Sunday December 14

Time: 1-5pm

Location: BLIP Outpost (room 321). 55 Washington Street. DUMBO neighborhood, downtown Brooklyn.

Nearest subway stations: York Street, High Street, Clark Street, Court Street – Borough Hall, Jay Street – MetroTech

Afterwards at 5pm, we will maybe walk to a social wiki-dinner or other activity together.

• For starters, playing the Wikidata Game! (description))
• Wikidata Tours
• Fixing issues reported in Wikidata constraint violations
• Adding descriptions to items with the Wikidata Terminator
• Exploring Wikidata classes and properties.
• Look for external databases or ontologies that are available under CC0/ Public Domain
• WikiProject Wikidata for research and especially the research proposal currently being drafted there (see blog post)
• Bringing bibliographic metadata onto Wikidata
• Phrasing out the specs for how to handle bibliographic metadata on Wikidata
• Review, test or improve/ expand the bib2wikidata code aimed at bringing bibliographic metadata onto Wikidata
• Setting up a Wikidata adventure (inspired by the WP:Wikipedia Adventure)
• Try to pull information from Wikidata into pages on other Wikimedia projects
• Test Wikidata-related tools and write about that in a Tool testing report
• Work on some Showcase items
• And in general, messing around with fun Wikidata external tools.

• Would like to attend but can't make it this time. Some things I'd consider working on if I'd be there:
  • WikiProject Wikidata for research and especially the research proposal currently being drafted there (see blog post)
