I would like to propose to post a link of the artist page on our website. The link is not to our main page, but leads directly to the particular artist. On these pages we provide information about exhibitions (not only at our gallery, but also at other, non-commercial institutions such as collections, museums, foundations, etc.), press articles and a selection of images of the artist's works.

We are aware of the argument about neutrality and the WP: IK and support a critical approach to informations, available on the Internet. Some people on Wikipedia had the impression, that the links that we wanted to post were to some extent advertising, and thus do not represent a neutral information. For this reason, I would like to point out that it is also not our wish to advertise on Wikipedia. Rather our goal is to provide comprehensive information about our artists.

Johnen Galerie generally does not use mass advertising - not least because the art works, represented by our gallery are not “products” for a mass-market. Our clientele is made up of a small circle of private collectors and public institutions, which we do not reach by usual forms of advertising outside of the art market and its media. As a gallery we not only focus on possible “customers”. Providing an acces to our artists’ work to people who are interested in art is equally important to us – and is in the interest of our artists. Because of that, providing sufficient information to art interested users on Wikipedia is just a substantial matter and a way to present recent works of our artists. Because of copyright issues - and I hope you will understand that we are quite sensitive in this respect - we can not publish images of art works that easily on external websites, but are dependent on a link to the artists’ website of Johnen Galerie.
