3Delight(현재 명칭: 3DelightNSI)는 윈도우, macOS (인텔 및 Apple Silicon 모두) 및 리눅스 (x86-64 및 AWS Graviton 모두)에서 실행되는 3차원 컴퓨터 그래픽스 소프트웨어이다. Illumination Research Pte Ltd에서 개발한 이 소프트웨어는 광선 추적 기반의 사실적 및 NPR 경로 추적 오프라인 렌더러로, NSI API 장면 설명과 셰이딩을 위한 Open_Shading_Language를 기반으로 한다. 오토데스크 마야, 후디니, 시네마 4D, 가타나, OpenUSD 하이드라와 같은 여러 DCC 애플리케이션을 위한 지원되는 오픈 소스 플러그인 통합과 상업적 사용을 허용하는 민주적인 무료 라이선스가 함께 제공된다. 또한 3Delight 클라우드라는 완전 분산형 클라우드 렌더링 서비스를 제공한다.

역사

3Delight 작업은 1999년에 시작되었다. 이 렌더러는 2000년에 처음으로 공개 및 무료로 제공되었다.[1] 3Delight는 BMRT보다 앞서서 REYES 알고리즘과 온디맨드 광선 추적을 결합한 최초의 렌더맨 호환 렌더러였다.

2005년 3월, 라이선스가 변경되었다. 첫 번째 라이선스는 무료였고 이후 라이선스는 유료였다. 3Delight를 상업적으로 라이선스한 최초의 회사는 2005년 초의 Rising Sun Pictures였다.

2018년부터 3DelightNSI의 모든 구매 라이선스는 무제한 멀티코어이며 가격이 인하되었다. 첫 번째 라이선스는 여전히 무료이며, 처음에는 4코어/스레드로 제한되었지만 나중에 8개로 늘어났고 현재는 12개로 늘어났다.

2018년 현재, Illumination Research는 Renderman 인터페이스(RI)의 노후화로 인해 이전 Renderman을 대체하는 Nodal Scene Interface(NSI)를 도입했다. 이러한 변경 사항을 반영하기 위해 렌더러의 이름도 3DelightNSI로 업데이트되었다. 결과적으로 새로운 3DelightNSI 렌더러는 더 이상 Renderman과 호환되지 않는다.

사양

버전 10(2013)까지 3Delight는 주로 REYES 알고리즘을 사용했지만 광선 추적 및 글로벌 일루미네이션도 가능했다. 버전 11(2014)부터 3Delight는 주로 경로 추적을 사용했으며, 필요할 때 REYES 및 광선 추적과 포인트 기반 글로벌 일루미네이션을 사용할 수 있는 옵션이 있었다. 3Delight 렌더러는 완전 멀티스레드 방식이었고, 최적화된 컴파일러와 최종 단계 JIT 컴파일을 사용하여 렌더맨 셰이딩 언어 (RSL) 1.0/2.0을 지원했다. 3Delight는 분산 렌더링을 지원했다. 2018년에 3DelightNSI 1.0은 새로운 NSI API를 기반으로 하는 순방향 경로 추적기로 도입되었으며 모든 셰이더 및 광원 방출기에 OSL을 사용했다.
