JuK은 KDE에서 제작한 자유 소프트웨어 오디오 플레이어로, K 데스크톱 환경 3.2부터 기본 플레이어로 포함되었다.[3] JuK은 MP3, Ogg Vorbis, FLAC 오디오 파일 모음을 지원한다.

JuK은 2000년 스콧 휠러에 의해 시작되었으며, 원래 이름은 QTagger였다. 하지만 2002년이 되어서야 KDE CVS로 옮겨졌고, 그곳에서 성숙한 오디오 애플리케이션으로 성장했다. KDE 3.2에서 처음으로 KDE의 공식 일부가 되었다.[4]

기능

JuK은 유능한 음악 플레이어이기도 하지만, 주로 음악 관리에 중점을 둔 오디오 주크박스 애플리케이션이다.[5] 다음과 같은 기능들이 이를 뒷받침한다.

  • 모음 목록 및 다중 사용자 정의 재생 목록.
  • 시작 시 디렉터리를 스캔하여 재생 목록(.m3u 파일) 및 음악 파일을 자동으로 가져오는 기능.
  • 모음의 필드가 변경될 때 자동으로 업데이트되는 동적 검색 재생 목록.
  • 앨범, 아티스트, 장르 세트에 대해 재생 목록이 자동으로 생성되는 트리 보기 모드.
  • 어떤 파일이 언제 재생되었는지 보여주는 재생 목록 기록.
  • 표시되는 항목 목록을 필터링하기 위한 인라인 검색.
  • 파일 이름에서 태그 정보를 추측하거나 뮤직브레인즈 온라인 조회를 사용하는 기능.
  • 태그 내용을 기반으로 파일 이름을 변경할 수 있는 파일 이름 변경 도구.
  • ID3v1, ID3v2 및 Ogg Vorbis 태그 읽기 및 편집 지원 (TagLib 사용).
