《Long May You Run》은 스틸스-영 밴드 명의로 발표된 스튜디오 음반으로, 스티븐 스틸스와 닐 영의 협업 작품이다. 이 음반은 1976년 9월 20일에 리프리즈 레코드를 통해 발매되었다.

《Long May You Run》은 빌보드 200에서 26위까지 올랐으며, 미국에서 미국 음반 산업 협회로부터 골드 인증을 받았다.

이 음반은 스틸스와 영이 듀오로서 발표한 유일한 스튜디오 음반이기도 하다.

배경

1974년 크로스비, 스틸스, 내시 & 영의 스타디움 투어 이후, 네 멤버는 새 음반을 완성하려고 시도했으나 갈등 끝에 아무런 성과 없이 무산되었다. 이후 데이비드 크로스비와 그레이엄 내시는 다시 듀오 활동을 이어갔고, 스틸스와 영은 각자의 솔로 활동을 계속했다. 완성되지 못한 CSNY 음반의 곡들은 이후 멤버들의 여러 음반에 흩어져 수록되었으며, 스틸스는 자신의 동시기 스튜디오 음반들에서 영의 곡 두 곡을 리메이크했다. 그는 《Stills》에 〈New Mama〉를, 《Illegal Stills》에 〈The Loner〉를 수록했다.

1976년 초, 스틸스와 영은 관계를 회복하고 공동 음반 작업을 시작했다. 이는 두 사람이 밴드 버펄로 스프링필드 시절에 시도했던 기타 중심의 음악적 탐구를, 밴드 결성 10년 만에 다시 이어가고자 했기 때문이었다.

크로스비와 내시도 프로젝트에 합류하면서 《Long May You Run》은 한때 많은 이들이 기다려 온 CSNY 재결성 음반이 될 것으로 보였다. 그러나 마감 시한이 다가오자 내시와 크로스비는 훗날 1976년 음반 《Whistling Down the Wire》가 되는 작업을 마무리하기 위해 마이애미를 떠났다. 이에 영과 스틸스는 마스터 테이프에서 두 사람의 보컬과 기타 기여분을 삭제하는 방식으로 대응했다.[3]

크로스비와 내시는 이후 다시는 스틸스나 영과 함께 작업하지 않겠다고 다짐했지만, 1년도 채 지나지 않아 스틸스와 재결합하여 음반 《CSN》을 발표하게 되었다.

1981년 《록라인》 인터뷰에서 영은 스틸스와의 작업 관계와 《Long May You Run》에서의 협업에 대해 회고했다.

"나는 우리의 관계가 상당히 생산적이었다고 생각한다. 서로 간의 균형이 계속 조정되면서 음악에 생명력을 불어넣었기 때문이다. 특히 초기 시절에는 더욱 그랬다. 스틸스-영 밴드는 우리가 오래전에 시작했던 무언가를 마무리하려는 시도와도 같았다. 하지만 우리가 초기에 함께 만들었던 음악만큼 뜨겁지는 않았다. 우리는 스무 살 무렵 종종 서로 충돌하곤 했는데, 그것이 밴드에는 좋은 영향을 주었다."[4]
