《Mamouna》는 영국의 싱어송라이터 브라이언 페리의 아홉 번째 솔로 스튜디오 음반으로, 1994년 8월 31일, 일본에서 처음 발매되었으며 이후 9월 5일, 버진 레코드를 통해 영국에서 발매되었다.[9] 이 음반은 페리가 7년 만에 발표한 오리지널 신곡 중심의 음반이며, 《Horoscope》라는 작업 제목 아래 6년에 걸쳐 작곡과 녹음 작업이 진행되었다. 음반은 두 개의 싱글 〈Your Painted Smile〉과 〈Mamouna〉로 홍보되었으며, 영국 음반 차트에서 11위에 올랐다.

이 음반에는 록시 뮤직의 전 멤버들을 포함한 여러 음악가들이 참여했으며, 1973년 밴드를 떠난 브라이언 이노도 연주에 기여했다.

배경

완성된 새 음반은 최종적으로 작업 제목이었던 《Horoscope》가 아닌 《Mamouna》라는 이름으로 발매되었다. 타이틀곡 〈Mamouna〉는 싱글 〈Taxi〉 발매 이후에 작곡되었다.

브라이언 이노는 프로덕션에 참여해 거의 모든 곡에 다양한 사운드 처리를 적용했으며, 브라이언 페리와 함께 〈Wildcat Days〉를 공동 작곡했다. 또한 전 록시 뮤직 멤버인 앤디 매케이(색소폰)와 필 만자네라(기타)도 객원 연주자로 참여했다. 매케이는 〈Wildcat Days〉를 포함한 두 곡에서 연주했으며, 만자네라는 한 곡에서 기타 연주를 담당했다.[10]

커버 아트에 사용된 그림은 영국 화가 제임스 워드의 작품이다.[11]

《Mamouna》는 1994년 9월에 발매되었다. 이 음반은 차트에서 최고 11위까지 올랐지만, 발매 한 달 만에 차트에서 이탈했다.[12] 음반에서 발매된 두 싱글 〈Your Painted Smile〉과 〈Mamouna〉는 각각 52위와 57위를 기록했다.[12]
