TDLS

TDLS는 Tunneled Direct Link Setup의 줄임말로, "이미 동일한 와이파이 네트워크에 연결된 기기들 사이에서 미디어와 기타 데이터를 더 빠르게 스트리밍하는 원활한 방식"이다. 이를 사용하는 기기들은 무선 네트워크의 라우터를 거치지 않고 서로 직접 통신한다.[1]

와이파이 얼라이언스는 2012년에 TDLS에 대한 인증을 추가했다. 와이파이 얼라이언스는 이 기능을 기존의 와이파이 네트워크에 연결된 기기들이 서로 직접 연결될 수 있게 하는 기술로 설명한다. 와이파이 CERTIFIED TDLS 기기는 안전한 링크를 설정하고 기기 간 데이터를 직접 전송할 수 있다. TDLS로 연결된 기기는 네트워크 전체에 부담을 주지 않으면서 비디오 스트리밍이나 콘텐츠 동기화와 같은 작업을 수행하기 위한 최적화된 연결의 이점을 누린다.[2]

IEEE는 이를 IEEE 802.11z 표준으로 승인했다.[3]

크롬캐스트에서 사용하는 구글의 캐스트 프로토콜은 TDLS를 활용하여 화면 미러링을 시작한다.[4]
