Atolla adalah genus ubur-ubur mahkota yang diusulkan oleh Ernst Haeckel pada tahun 1880 dan diangkat ke tingkat famili oleh Henry Bigelow pada tahun 1913.[1] Keenam spesies dikenal menghuni zona mesopelagik.[2] Medusa memiliki beberapa (lebih dari 16) lobus disebut lapet pada tepi bel.[2] Jumlah tentakel dan rhopalia dua kali lebih kurang dibandingkan dengan jumlah lapet.[2]
