Cryptasterina hystera adalah sebuah spesies bintang laut. Spesies tersebut ditemuakn di kawasan terbatas pesisir Australia dan sangat mirip secara penampilan dengan Cryptasterina pentagona. Keduanya nampak terbagi dari garis leluhur umum pada beberapa ribu tahun lalu.[2]

Distribusi

Cryptasterina hystera berasal dari sejumlah kecil lokasi di pantai Austraslia di ujung selatan wilayah persebaran Cryptasterina pentagona. Spesies tersebut berada pada sekitaran pesisir dan kepulauan Statue Bay (23°15′S; 150°45′E), di tenggara Queensland, dan biasanya ditemukan di bawah bebatuan dan di antara pohon bakau di zona pasang surut hulu.[3]
