Globalitas
Globalitas adalah keadaan mati suriglobalisasi paling akhir, ramalan bahwa proses globalisasi sudah selesai atau hampir selesai, tidak ada perbatasan lagi, dan "realitas global baru" mulai muncul.
Istilah ini digunakan tahun 1998 oleh penulis dan ekonom Daniel Yergin dalam sebuah artikel Newsweek yang menjelaskan akhir dari proses globalisasi,[1] dan bukunya, Commanding Heights: The Battle for the World Economy. Meski Yergin disebut sebagai tokoh yang menciptakan kata ini, asal-usulnya justru lebih tua lagi. William Safire melacak etimologi "globalitas" dalam buku No Uncertain Terms.[2] Ia mengidentifikasi berbagai sitiran sampai tahun 1942 ketika "globalitas" masih merupakan sinonim dari "global". Makna "globalitas" saat ini, yaitu persaingan perdagangan dunia, merupakan makna baru.
Di New York Times, William J. Holstein menyebut istilah ini sebagai "jargon baru [yang] kurang pas — kata ini hanya menjelaskan tren yang sudah berlangsung selama sedikitnya dua dasawarsa dengan nama yang serupa."[3]
