Jird arab (Meriones arimalius) adalah sebuah spesies hewan pengerat dalam famili Muridae.[2] Hewan ini ditemukan di Oman, Arab Saudi, dan Uni Emirat Arab.

Taksonomi

Spesies ini pertamakali dideskripsikan oleh Cheesman dan Hinton pada 1924. Meriones arimalius terkadang dianggap sebagai subspesies dari Meriones libycus, atau yang juga dikenal sebagai jird libya, yang berkerabat dekat dengan spesies ini.[3]

Deskripsi

Bulu hewan ini pendek; punggungnya "krem-pasir", perutnya putih, dan ekornya "berwarna gading hingga kuning, dengan sebuah kuncung rambut putih di ujungnya". Spesimen tipenya berukuran 132 milimeter (5,2 in), dengan ekor sepanjang 163 milimeter (6,4 in). Panjang telinganya 18 milimeter (0,71 in) sementara kaki belakangnya 37 milimeter (1,5 in).[4]
