Korteks insular (atau insula dan lobus insular) adalah sebagian dari korteks otak besar yang terlipat di dalam sulkus lateral (alur yang memisahkan lobus temporal, parietal dan frontal) pada kedua belahan otak mamalia.
Insula diyakini terlibat pada kesadaran dan memainkan peran pada fungsi-fungsi yang beragam, biasanya dihubungkan ke emosi atau regulasi homeostasis tubuh. Fungsi-fungsi ini mencakup kasih sayang, empati, rasa, persepsi, kontrol motorik, kesadaran diri, fungsi kognitif, pengalaman interpersonal, dan kesadaran emosi homeostatis seperti rasa lapar, sakit dan lelah. Berhubungan ini, insula juga terlibat pada psikopatologi. Korteks ini ditutupi oleh operkulum.
