Lakedaimon

Lakedaimon (/læsɪˈdiːmən/; bahasa Yunani: Λακεδαίμων, Lakedaímōn) adalah raja mitos Lakonia[1] dan putra Pleiades Taygetos dan Zeus dalam mitologi Yunani klasik. Dia adalah ayahanda Raja Amyklas dari Sparta dan Ratu Eurydike dari Argos, dengan Putri Sparta, putri Raja Eurotas.[2] Taygetos memiliki hubungan dengan Artemis dalam mitologi sebelumnya.[3]

Eurotas mewariskan kerajaan tersebut kepada Lakedaimon, yang kemudian mengganti nama negara tersebut dengan istrinya,[1] Sparta, yang juga keponakannya.[4]

Menurut Pseudo-Plutarkhos,[5] Taygetos adalah istri Lakedaimon. Putra mereka bernama Himerus.
