Malo kingi adalah ubur-ubur Irukandji dinamai bedasarkan korban bernama Robert King, seorang turis asal Amerika Serikat yang meninggal akibat sengatannya. Ubur-ubur ini pertama kali dideskripsikan dengan sains pada tahun 2007, dan merupakan salah satu dari dua spesies dalam genus Malo.[1] Ubur-ubur ini memiliki beberapa bisa terampuh di dunia, meskipun tidak lebih besar dari kuku ibu jari manusia.[2] Sebagai ubur-ubur Irukandji, spesies ini dapat menyebabkan sindrom Irukandji, ditandai dengan nyeri hebat, muntah, dan peningkatan pesat dalam tekanan darah.[2]
