Stichaster australis, atau bintang laut terumbu karang, adalah sebuah spesies bintang laut yang ditemukan di perairan dangkal pasang-surut bebatuan Selandia Baru. Biasanya, hewan tersebut menjadi endemik di pesisir barat Pulau Utara dan Selatan, tempat pergerakan gelombang meningkat. Mereka biasanya tak tinggal di ekosisitem yang kekurangan pergerakan gelombang dan kondisi tenang karena mereka memerlukan lingkungan bertenaga yang lebih tinggi. Invertebrata laut tersebut memiliki warna dari merah jambu sampai ungu, namun dapat juga berwarna jingga.[1] Mereka biasanya memiliki sebelas lengan, namun terkadang mereka memiliki sepuluh atau dua belas.[2] Kala tumbuh dewasa sepenuhnya, mereka memiliki diameter 8 sampai 10 cm.
