Zygnematophyceae (atau Conjugatophyceae) adalah sebuah kelas alga hijau di parafilum alga streptophyta, yang juga dikenal sebagai Charophyta.[2] Kelompok ini mencakup lebih dari 4000 spesies yang sudah dideskripsikan.[3] Zygnematophyceae merupakan klad saudari dari Embryophyta (tumbuhan darat).[4][5][6]

Anggota-anggota umum dari Zygnematophyceae mencakup alga berfilamen Spirogyra dan Mougeotia, beserta dengan alga desmid, yang merupakan sebuah alga mikroskopis yag dicirikan dengan sel bermotif simetris.[7]
