BYB Tech is an Italian company based in Brescia that designs and manufactures data acquisition (telemetry), lap timing and lighting systems for off-road and on-road sports vehicles, including mountain bikes, motocross motorcycles, quads and cars.[1]
History
The company was founded in 2019 following a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter, through which it introduced a professional suspension telemetry system for mountain bikes. In 2020 it released version 2.0 of the system, with a greater number of acquisition channels and additional sensors,[2][3] and in subsequent years its telemetry systems were adopted by international teams and athletes in downhill mountain biking.[1]
Products
BYB Telemetry
BYB Telemetry is a data acquisition system that measures suspension movement and other dynamic parameters of the vehicle—such as speed, braking, vibration and attitude—using a GPS receiver and a six-axis inertial measurement unit, so that the setup can be tuned from quantitative data rather than rider feel alone.[1] It is offered in versions for mountain bikes, motocross, quads and cars, as well as a generic acquisition mode. The range includes the V3 model, with two analog channels and a 500 Hz sampling rate, and the V3 Pro, with five analog channels, a 1000 Hz sampling rate and raw data export.[4][5] The kit comprises the acquisition unit, sensors, PC software (Windows and macOS) and a smartphone application (iOS and Android) with session-comparison and assisted setup-tuning features.[6]
BYB Chrono
BYB Chrono is a lap-timing system based on a multi-constellation GPS with a 25 Hz update rate, usable across several types of vehicle. It can operate with GPS only or combined with a speed sensor and external triggers (transponders), in order to record lap times and intermediate splits even where satellite coverage is poor. Data is analysed through a smartphone application that allows comparison of riding lines and detection of braking and jumps.[7]
BYB Focus
BYB Focus is a front bicycle light capable of emitting a light pulse of up to 5,000 lumens, weighing approximately 55 grams.[8]
