Daniel Goetz is an American entrepreneur and the founder of GoodPop, an Austin, Texas–based frozen dessert company.[1][2]

Education and career

Goetz attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he studied advertising.[1] During a visit to Mexico City, he became interested in traditional fruit-based frozen treats known as paletas, which later influenced the creation of GoodPop.[3]

In 2009, while still a university student, Goetz founded GoodPop in Austin, Texas using approximately US$3,500 in personal savings.[1]

Initially, Goetz produced frozen pops by hand and sold them at farmers markets and music festivals in Texas.[3] According to CNBC, he later distributed products himself to grocery stores across Texas, including Whole Foods Market, while expanding the business regionally.[1] GoodPop expanded into national retail distribution through chains including Walmart, Costco, and Whole Foods Market.[1] The company later diversified into dairy-based frozen products and sparkling beverages.[4][5][6]

Recognition

In 2023, Goetz was named a finalist for the Greater Austin Business Awards' Top CEO category by the Austin Chamber of Commerce.[7]
