Uranic is a form of sexuality that highlights the sexual attraction, or romantic attraction to masculine-aligned people, men, or non-binary people.
This is a label that is mostly used by non-binary people as a way to describe attraction without limiting it to the gender of the user, however, it can be used by anyone. Uranic attraction does not mean there is an equal balance between masculine-aligned people, men, or non-binaries, as people may have preferences.
History
The label has origins on Tumblr coming from a user named "loud-and-queer", on August 31st, 2017.
The uranic flag was also created by Tumblr user "loud-and-queer", on September 17th, 2017.
The term uranic originates from the 19th century term "Urning", although it has evolved to fit a more modern definition. Urning was used by Karl Heinrich Ulrichs to describe men being attracted to other men.
Media
It comes from Tumblr, although it has not yet been represented in any media besides that of which you can find references or mentions on various social media sites like Reddit, TikTok, and X. It is not a very widely known label.
